You can book a trip with The Ylem Expedition Company by filling out our contact form and we will send you the Expedition’s detailed digital brochure. From there, we design the trip to meet your preferences and you just have to send us copies of your valid passport. Your booking is secured by completing the 20% deposit payment as per our invoice.

As part of our commitment to excellence and authenticity, we only offer one destination at a time, to a specific destination each time. We specialize in off-the-beaten-path destinations that are not typically visited by tourists. The initial destinations covered are Yemen and Iraq. In the future, we will be adding further Expeditions in regions in Asia, Africa, Central and South America.

The cost of the expeditions varies, depending on the particular logistics of a destination. They start at 4.000 EUR and go up to 10.000 EUR. Rest assured that we will handle everything, from regional and domestic flights* to visas, sharing accommodation** in the highest available options, and full insurance so that our guests can travel with peace of mind.

The cost of an expedition is a first of its kind, absolutely all-inclusive: Visa Fees and Processing; Security Clearance Documentation (where applicable); Full Insurance; Regional Flights (where applicable - in economy class - if you wish to be upgraded to a higher class of travel, a surcharge applies); All Ground Transportation and Fuel; Accommodation in the Highest Quality Available Property (on a two-person sharing base, single supplement applies if requested); All Meals and Snacks; Amenity Kits; All Experiences; Police & Military Escorts (where applicable); Professional Photographic Documentation of the Expedition; Curated Souvenirs.

The Ylem Expedition Company works closely with each guest or group to understand their specific interests, their preferences, and schedule. Based on this information, we create a tailored itinerary that aligns with the individual needs and preferences of our guests.

We cater to very small groups of travelers (a maximum of six guests per travel expedition). This allows for a personalized and exclusive travel experience that is tailored to the interests and needs of each guest.

We specialize in off-the-beaten-path destinations, which may not be suitable for families with young children. However, families with older children or teenagers who are interested in exploring unique cultures and landscapes may find our trips to be a great fit.

We select accommodations that are unique, comfortable, and reflective of the local culture and environment. Depending on the destination, accommodations may include hotels, boutique hotels, lodges, guesthouses, or camping accommodations. We will always ensure our guests have access to the best possible accommodation options (subject to availability).

Some of the destinations offered are known for challenging women and the lgbtq+ community's rights. Despite this, The Ylem Expedition Company always strives to safeguard the integrity of guests on expeditions and will advise each guest on a one-on-one case accordingly. Women are generally very welcome and respected, despite having to comply with local customs of covering up (also due to security reasons). At Ylem, we have a zero-tolerance policy for discrimination, so rest assured we will do everything to make you feel comfortable.

The level of physical fitness required for our trips varies depending on the destination and activities included in the itinerary. Some trips may involve moderate physical activity, such as hiking or trekking, while others may be more relaxed. We at The Ylem Expedition Company provide detailed information about the physical demands of each trip in the itinerary, and travelers should consult with their doctor before embarking on any physically demanding activity.

We take the safety and security of our guests very seriously. We work with the best insurance providers and experienced and knowledgeable guides and local partners who are trained in first aid and emergency response procedures. We closely monitor global events and have a travel leader on location with guests to ensure their safety throughout the trip.

A guaranteed departure of a travel Expedition happens when there is a minimum of 3 Guests with confirmed bookings. If the expedition is canceled, on behalf of The Ylem Expedition Company, only a possibility due to extenuating circumstances, our guests are entitled to a full refund as per the individual insurance policy guaranteed by The Ylem Expedition Company. If a guest cancels the trip, it is also entitled to a full refund per the same individual insurance conditions but will have to process it independently.
